Houston’s window tint shop for cars, homes and businesses

Quick answer

Texas Tinted is a window tinting company at 2401 Fountain View Dr in Houston’s Uptown/Galleria area. We install 3M™ and HITEK window film on cars, trucks, SUVs and Teslas, and solar, privacy, security and decorative film on homes and commercial buildings. Come to the shop or book mobile service anywhere in Greater Houston. Open 7 days. Call or text (832) 492-5314.

Houston glass takes a beating: long summers, high UV, and traffic that leaves you sitting in the sun on 610, I-10 and US-59. Good window film blocks almost all UV, cuts the infrared heat you feel on your skin, and takes the edge off glare. We help you pick the right film and shade for your goals and for Texas law, then install it cleanly and stand behind it.

Automotive · our main focus

Car window tinting in Houston

From daily commuters to Teslas and full-size trucks, we tint every kind of vehicle in the shop or at your door. Every car gets ceramic film. Pick the coverage and film line, and see your price in about a minute. Starts at $249.

Most popular

Sides & back glass

Every side window plus the rear windshield. The full-privacy, full-comfort package most drivers choose.

Match factory tint

Front two windows

Many SUVs and trucks leave the factory with dark rear glass. We tint the front doors to a legal shade that blends.

Biggest glass

Full windshield film

Clear ceramic film across the whole windshield. Less heat on your hands and dash, no darker view.

Heat

Sunroof & glass roof

Panoramic and glass roofs bake the cabin. Ceramic film cuts the heat coming straight down.

Fix old film

Tint removal

Purple, bubbling or peeling film comes off cleanly, including the adhesive, before new film goes on.

At your door

Mobile tinting

Same films and same warranty, installed at your home or office. Film is pre-cut in the shop before we arrive.

Choosing a tint percentage

VLT (visible light transmission) is the share of light the film lets through. Lower numbers are darker. Darker film adds privacy, but heat rejection comes mostly from the film’s technology, not its darkness: a light ceramic film can block more heat than a dark dyed one.

70%Barely visible. Heat control with a factory look.
50%Light shade. Glare relief, easy night vision.
35%Medium. The common legal pick for Texas front doors.
20%Dark. Popular for rear doors and back glass.
15%Very dark. Strong daytime privacy.
5%Limo. Rear glass only in Texas.

Texas measures film and factory glass together. Front side windows must meter at 25% or lighter. See the full Texas tint law.

Home & business

Window film for Houston homes and commercial buildings

The same heat and UV problem, on a bigger scale. We measure, recommend a film, and install it with minimal disruption.

Why window film pays off in Houston

Houston’s climate is hard on glass and everything behind it.

  • UV fades and ages. Quality films block 99% or more of UV, protecting skin, leather, dashboards, floors and artwork.
  • Infrared is the heat you feel. Ceramic films target infrared, so the cabin or room stays cooler without going dark.
  • Glare is a safety issue. Low sun on east–west commutes and reflected light from glass towers make tint more than cosmetic.
  • Storm season is real. Security film helps hold shattered glass together. It is not a substitute for hurricane shutters, but it adds a layer.
  • Parked cars get hot. Lower interior temperatures mean the A/C catches up faster after the car has sat in a lot.

Frequently asked questions

How much does window tint cost in Houston?

Car tint at Texas Tinted starts at $249. The final price depends on your vehicle, how many windows you tint and which ceramic film you choose; top-tier films like 3M Crystalline and HITEK Ceramic Ultra cost more because they block the most heat. Use our instant quote to see your exact price for your year, make and model in about a minute, or read the Houston window tint cost guide.

What is the darkest legal window tint in Texas?

On the front side windows, Texas requires at least 25% light transmission measured through the film and glass together, with no more than 25% reflectance. Rear side windows can be any darkness, and the back glass can be any darkness if the vehicle has outside mirrors on both sides. Windshield film is limited to the area above the AS-1 line or the top 5 inches. Because factory glass is not perfectly clear, we usually recommend 30–35% film on the front doors. See our Texas tint law guide.

How long does it take to tint a car?

Most cars take 1 to 3 hours. The time depends on the vehicle, how many windows are being tinted, and whether old film has to be removed first.

Do you offer mobile window tinting?

Yes. We tint at your home or office across Greater Houston. Your film is pre-cut in our shop before the appointment, so you pick your shades ahead of time. We need a shaded, dust-free spot such as a garage or carport, room to work around the vehicle, and a power outlet. See mobile window tinting.

When can I roll my windows down after tinting?

Keep the windows up for about 3 to 5 days so the adhesive can set. Small water pockets or a hazy look in the first weeks are normal and clear on their own as the moisture evaporates. Don't press or pop them.

Which window film brands do you use?

We install 3M™ and HITEK films for cars, homes and commercial buildings, including ceramic films that block heat without metal, so they don't interfere with phone, GPS or radio signals.

Do you tint homes and office buildings too?

Yes. We install solar control, privacy, decorative and security window film on homes, offices, storefronts and other commercial buildings. See residential window tint and commercial window film.
