Quick answer
Texas Tinted tints the Lucid Gravity with non-metal ceramic film from 3M™ and HITEK, in our shop near the Galleria in Houston. The Gravity’s large windshield and panoramic glass roof are some of the biggest pieces of glass on any SUV, and they need a professional installer: film is heat-formed to the curve so it lies flat with no fingers or lines, and the windshield is done in one seamless piece from a 60-inch roll. Before any water touches the glass, we cover the door panels, seats, dash and screens to protect the interior. Front doors go to a legal Texas shade (30–35% film); rear doors, quarter glass and the liftgate glass can be any shade.
Lucid Gravity tint is all about the big glass
The side windows of a Lucid Gravity are straightforward for an experienced tinter. The windshield and the roof are not. Both are very large, deeply curved panes, and a flat sheet of film only fits them after careful heat-shrinking on the outside of the glass. Rush that step and you get creases, light leaks or lifting at the edges.
The roof is also where Houston heat comes in. A panoramic glass roof lets sun fall straight onto every row of seats, so a clear or light ceramic heat film there makes the biggest difference to cabin comfort, without giving up the view that makes the Gravity feel so open.

Why the Gravity needs a professional installer
Big glass is unforgiving. On the Gravity’s windshield and roof, every part of the job takes longer and leaves less room for error than on a typical car:
- Heat-forming large sheets: the film is shrunk on the outside of the glass until it matches the compound curve, then moved inside. On glass this size that takes experience and patience.
- Clean edges: film is trimmed to the glass edge and dot matrix so no light gaps or lifting edges show.
- Cameras and sensors: windshield film is cut to keep the camera and sensor area clear, so driver-assistance features see exactly what they did before.
- Signals: non-metal ceramic film only, so phone key, GPS, LTE and over-the-air updates work normally.
- One-piece windshield: the Gravity’s windshield is too wide for standard film rolls. We stock 60-inch rolls so it is done in one seamless piece, not three pieces with seams behind the sun visors.

We protect your Lucid’s interior
Tinting uses slip solution and squeegees, and the Gravity’s cabin is full of electronics and premium materials. So the interior is covered before we start, every time:
- Door panels, speakers and window switches covered with water-resistant shields
- Dash, center screens and controls covered so no solution reaches them
- Seats, headliner edges and floors protected with covers and towels
- Measured amounts of solution, not a hose: water stays on the glass
- Everything wiped down and checked before the car is handed back

Lucid Gravity glass roof tint
Lucid’s roof glass has its own factory coatings, but on a July afternoon in Houston the cabin still heats from above, and second- and third-row passengers feel it most. A clear or light (50–70%) ceramic or multilayer film adds infrared rejection and UV protection without making the roof look dark from inside. Looking up, the sky is still there; sitting under it, the heat is not.
We pattern the roof glass for your exact vehicle, heat-form the film so it lies flat across the curve, and finish the edges under the trim so nothing shows from inside.

Lucid Gravity windshield tint
The Gravity’s large, steeply raked windshield lets in a lot of heat and glare. A nearly clear ceramic or multilayer heat film, such as 3M™ Crystalline, rejects much of that infrared heat while keeping the view clear, day and night.
One piece, not three
The Gravity’s windshield is wider than the film rolls most shops carry. Without a big enough roll, a shop has to do it in three pieces, with seams hidden behind the sun visors. We stock 60-inch rolls, so your windshield film goes on as one seamless sheet, heat-formed to the glass, with no joins anywhere in the glass.
Texas law matters here: Texas Transportation Code §547.613 exempts windshield film only above the AS-1 line or within the top 5 inches. A full-windshield film falls outside that exemption even when it is nearly clear, though the statute provides a defense when a driver or passenger needs sun protection for a medical reason. Read the details on our windshield heat film page before you decide. A legal visor strip is always an option.

Best tint film for a Lucid Gravity in Houston
With this much glass, the film you choose matters. We use ceramic film only. For the most heat rejection on the roof and windshield, choose 3M™ Crystalline or HITEK Ceramic Ultra. 3M™ Ceramic IR and HITEK Ceramic IR balance performance and price on the side and rear glass. Compare them in best ceramic tint brands or read more about ceramic window tint.
| Film | Construction | Shades | Manufacturer heat spec |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3M™ Crystalline Series | Multilayer optical film, 200+ layers, non-metal | 20–90% | Up to 60% TSER · up to 97% IR rejection |
| 3M™ Ceramic IR Series | Ceramic, non-metal | Light to dark | Ceramic infrared rejection; 3M ownership warranty against fading to purple |
| HITEK Ceramic Ultra | Nano-ceramic, non-metal | 5 · 20 · 35 · 50 · 70% | 96% IR (1025 nm) · up to 71% TSER |
| HITEK Ceramic Black | Dyed base with nano-ceramic | 5–35% | 85% IR |
| HITEK Ceramic IR | Nano-ceramic | 5–70% | 75% IR |
Specs are the manufacturers’ published figures. 3M states performance on ¼-inch, 73% VLT automotive glass. Brands measure IR rejection over different wavelength ranges, so compare TSER (total solar energy rejected) when you want an apples-to-apples heat number. These five lines are what we stock as an authorized 3M™ and HITEK dealer.

Frequently asked questions
Can the Lucid Gravity windshield be tinted in one piece?
Yes. The Gravity’s windshield is wider than the film rolls most shops carry, so many do it in three pieces with seams behind the sun visors. We stock 60-inch rolls and install the windshield film as one seamless piece, heat-formed to the glass.
Can you tint a Lucid Gravity?
Yes. We tint the Lucid Gravity’s side windows, liftgate glass, panoramic glass roof and windshield with non-metal ceramic film from 3M and HITEK, in our shop at 2401 Fountain View Dr near the Galleria in Houston.
Why does the Lucid Gravity need a professional tint installer?
The windshield and glass roof are very large and deeply curved. Film has to be heat-shrunk on the outside of the glass until it matches the curve, then installed inside without creases or light gaps. The windshield also needs a 60-inch roll to be done in one piece, which most shops don’t carry.
Will tinting get water inside my Lucid Gravity?
We cover the door panels, speakers, dash, screens, seats and floors before we start, and use measured amounts of slip solution rather than a hose, so the water stays on the glass. Everything is wiped down and checked before handover.
Should I tint the Lucid Gravity glass roof?
Most Houston owners benefit from it. A clear or light ceramic film on the roof adds infrared rejection and UV protection over every row without making the roof look dark from inside.
Is it legal to tint the Lucid Gravity windshield in Texas?
Texas exempts windshield film only above the AS-1 line or in the top 5 inches. A full-windshield film is outside that exemption even when nearly clear, though the statute provides a defense when a driver or passenger needs sun protection for a medical reason. This is a summary, not legal advice.
What tint percentage is legal on a Lucid Gravity in Texas?
Front side windows must meter at least 25% with film and glass together, so most owners choose 30% or 35% film. Rear side windows, quarter glass and the liftgate glass can be any darkness because the Gravity has outside mirrors on both sides.
Will window tint affect my Lucid’s phone key, GPS or cameras?
No. We only use non-metal ceramic film, so the phone key, GPS, LTE and over-the-air updates work normally, and windshield film is cut to keep the camera and sensor area clear.
What is the best tint for a Lucid Gravity?
Ceramic or multilayer film: 3M Crystalline or HITEK Ceramic Ultra for the most heat rejection, especially on the roof and windshield, or 3M Ceramic IR or HITEK Ceramic IR for a strong balance of performance and price.
Do you tint the Lucid Air?
Yes. We tint the Lucid Air with the same non-metal ceramic films and full interior protection, including the windshield and glass canopy. The instant quote covers the Air too.
How much does it cost to tint a Lucid Gravity in Houston?
It depends on the film and how much glass you include: sides and rear, the glass roof, the windshield, or all of it. Car tint at Texas Tinted starts at $249; the instant quote shows the exact price for your Gravity with each film.
How long does it take to tint a Lucid Gravity?
About 1 to 2 hours for the side windows and rear glass, and about 3 to 4 hours for the full Gravity: sides, rear, glass roof and windshield. The interior protection is included in that time.
When can I roll down my windows after tint?
Keep the windows up for 3 to 5 days in warm Houston weather so the film can set. See how long tint takes to cure.
