On paper, these films are in the same class. At the same shade on the same car, most people would not feel a difference between Ceramic Ultra and XR PLUS.
What’s actually different
- Price. HITEK is usually priced below XPEL for the same tier. At Texas Tinted, HITEK car tint starts at $249.
- Warranty. Both offer lifetime warranties on these lines. HITEK’s is nationwide and honored through HITEK dealers; find one on HITEK’s dealer map.
- Brand recognition. XPEL is better known, partly from its paint protection film. Recognition doesn’t change how the film performs on your glass.

Who makes the film
Neither XPEL nor HITEK manufactures its own window film; both source film from specialist manufacturers and sell it under their own names and warranties. What you’re comparing is each brand’s film line, specs and warranty, and the shop that installs it.
A note on IR numbers
Brands measure infrared rejection at specific wavelengths, so a 96% and a 98% figure may not be measured the same way. Total solar energy rejected (TSER) is a better single number for how much heat a film keeps out, and it should be compared at the same shade. Our TSER guide explains it in plain terms.
How to choose
If you want XR PLUS-level heat rejection, HITEK Ceramic Ultra gives you the same class of film, usually for less. If you like the deep black look of XR BLACK, HITEK Ceramic Black is the match. Texas Tinted installs HITEK and 3M; we don’t install XPEL window film, so if XPEL is a must for you, an XPEL dealer is the place to go.
